BBC - The One Show
Casablanca Hire received a call from the BBC for an emergency order to provide marquees for The One Show, providing protection for The John Wilson Orchestra and the crew throughout the programme.
We
received a call in the afternoon with short notice to see if we could
provide marquees The One Show studios at Broadcasting House, just off
Oxford Street, as Hurricane Gonzalo hit the nation, bringing wild windy
and wet conditions to London.
The BBC contacted us specifically
for help at this short notice due to our reputation as the premier
marquee hire and event hire company in London. The BBC knew they could
trust us to provide our first-rate marquees which are sturdy and
resistant to most weather conditions within the tight timeframe.
Our
event hire team rolled out of our offices within minutes and packed up
our marquees before arriving to receive further instruction on
placement. They erected our specialist marquees with quickness and ease,
well in time for the shows broadcast at 7pm.
With Hurricane
Gonzalo descending and starting to make an impact across the UK, we saw
the weather turn bringing rain and wind to the capital before the BBC
called.
Obviously with worrying weather conditions there was an
even greater sense of urgency to prepare and protect yourself and others
from the elements. There is also Health and Safety regulations to think
about with an organisation like the BBC needing to ensure safety and
comfort for employees and the guests on the show.
The John
Wilson Orchestra was on The One Show to promote its latest album ‘Cole
Porter in Hollywood’ and their UK tour which sees orchestra playing
venues up and down the country this November.
The John Wilson
Orchestra, founded in 1994 by the British orchestral conductor John
Wilson, is a symphonic orchestra that includes a big jazz band. They
perform annually at the BBC proms summer festival and have extensively
toured the world with their original arrangements of MGM musicals and
takes on Rodgers and Hammerstein works.
On the show they not
only put a twist on The One Show’s infamous theme tune to kick the show
off, they played out the programme with a Cole Porter classic ‘Let’s Do
It’, with vocals provided by the fantastic Anna Jane Casey and Matt
Ford.
The BBC sought our services as they knew they could rely upon our experienced and dedicated team to meet such a tight deadline.
