Casablanca Hire kicked off a busy weekend with the Bario Fiesta sa London – the most anticipated gathering of Filipino people in the UK!

We hire out marquees and event furniture to the two day event from 19th-20th July organised by the Philippine Centre, which marked its 30th anniversary this year. The event is also held in partnership with The Filipino Channel who also, incidentally, celebrated its 20th anniversary this year – so, it was safe to say that at this year’s event they pulled out all the stops!

Barrio Fiesta sa London’s theme this year was to showcase not only Filipino talent but togetherness or partnership; every year the fiesta brings together Filipinos in UK and nearby countries together to celebrate and display the spirit of the Philippine nation like one big family.

From its Bario Fiesta sa London has grown and grown each year, with record crowds flocking to the event now held at Apps Court Farm, near Hampton Court Palace, London, for the world-class Filipino entertainment and the showcasing of dazzling Filipino culture and tradition.

In the Philippines, fiesta is described as the most beloved institution in the country, embodying all that is held dear by the Filipino people – pageantry, drama, humour, friendship, religious piety and earthy revelry.

We found that the Fiesta sa London has all this in abundance, bringing together all Filipinos and Filipinos-at-heart from all over the UK and neighbouring countries in Europe, replicating a true Philippine Fiesta.

The fiesta is obviously a fun filled affair, but there is a series side to the where the proceeds go to. Funds go towards Filipino causes, such as a recent £3,000 donation to a relief programme to fund operations during calamities and rehabilitation projects. The fiesta will continue to support a range of charities and causes going forward and Casablanca Hire was privileged to be a part of such a meaningful event.

This year’s Bario Fiesta sa London, saw the largest assembly of stars and Filipino talent since the events humble beginnings in Holland Park, London. The fiesta has been Europe’s premier event for celebrating Filipino artistic and cultural pride, with a wide range of native performers entertaining the crowds, including some of the Philippines’ household names. Attendees also had the chance for a ‘meet and greet’ with some of the headline acts and artists on the event.

Aside from the celebrities who were performing for the crowds there are other Filipino activities to take in and sample, such as traditional games and a food fiesta, with some of Casablanca Hire’s marquees providing the perfect setting for these. Casablanca Hire’s marquees and event furniture were put to the test over the two day event because of the size of the crowds who had an insatiable demand – we stood up to the test and received only gratitude and praise for all our efforts, which was fantastic feedback to receive! We hope to be back for Bario Fiesta sa London’s 31st Anniversary next year…
